Christmas Week

My first week in Kearney has just zoomed by!! I have been able to meet a ton of wonderful people and feel quite at home for this Christmas season. This week, I have been focusing on what I call infinite moments. Taken from a quote from one of my favorite books, which says, "And in that moment, we were infinite!" This quote stuck with me and I came up with infinite moments. Infinite moments are moments where you get a glimpse of heaven, where you can feel soo fully of God's love that you could just stay in that moment forever. And the best things about infinite moments is that they are usually small and easily overlooked. I have come to feel so fully of God's love for me this week as I have focused daily on infinite moments. From things as little as someone telling me they loved me or having egg nog on Christmas, to huge infinite moments like seeing my family and hearing that my dad has been sober for 101 days!! Take time this week to notice infinite moments as they happen, and then share them! Not only will this open your own eyes to seeing Heavenly Father's hand more fully in your own life, it will lift and inspire others as well!

Infinite Moment

So guess what, I am back out West again! After three Wonderful months in the big city of Lincoln Nebraska, I am back to the country, namely Kearney Nebraska. It was so hard saying goodbye to those who I have come to love in Lincoln, but its not goodbye, only a see ya later, because Heavenly Father has work for me to do elsewhere. As I arrived here a couple days ago, the Spirit confirmed in my heart this is exactly where I need to be. I have also come up with a new focus...infinite moments. Let me explain, before my mission, I read this book called The Perks of Being A Wallflower and in it, the main character describes how he felt after one of the best days of his life by saying, "And in that moment we were infinite!" I have begun to realize the numerous infinite moments that happen daily. To me an infinite moment is a moment when you can glimpse eternity, you feel so fully of God's love that you could stay in that moment forever!
I will share an infinite moment from this week, we were at a dinner of a family I had just met, and as we were saying goodbye, the grandma came up to me, gave me a great big hug and said, "I love you!" In that moment, I felt soooo fully of Heavenly Father's love, I could have just stayed in that moment forever. Take the time this week to recognize your own personal infinite moments, and as you do, remember to thank God for them. I know that as you look for those wonderful infinite moments, you will find them, and they will bring you closer to God.
Merry Christmas!!!

The Gift I Want to Give my Savior

What a wonderful week full of spiritual experiences and Christmas celebrations!! This week, we had the opportunity to go up to the Mormon Trail Center and tour it (as well as see the awesome gingerbread house displays!). I learned even more about the immense sacrifices that the early pioneers made to show their faithfulness in following the words of the prophet. I know they were able to endure freezing weather, sickness, and death because they knew with every fiber of their being that this was in fact Christ's church restored again on the earth. And, that the words of the prophet were in reality the will of the Father for His children. I admire their incredible faith!!! We also had Christmas Conference with the other missionaries. We had a gift exchange and a funny talent show, but what was most wonderful was remembering my Savior. President Gardner invited us to write a letter, explaining a gift we wanted to give the Savior this year. Last week, I spent a lot of time pondering on the gift I wanted to give my Savior, and I wrote it down in my letter, I could literally feel my Heavenly Father's love and support of my gift. I would like to invite each of you to ponder on what gift you could give to the Savior this year. It could be anything from bad habits, to letting go of fears, or serving more. I can promise, not only will you receive heavenly help in accomplishing giving whatever gift, you will come to appreciate more fully the many glorious gifts that our Savior has given to us!!!

Lean on Our Savior

Short and Sweet this week:)
I want to share a short story this week shared with us this by our mission president's wife...There was a commercial which came on and it was featuring this beautiful majestic lion. The King of the Jungle just strutting his stuff around his pen at the zoo. Feeding time came along and the zoo workers let this tiny little goat in the Lion's pen. Upon seeing the little goat, the all powerful lion ran and hid, cowering from this puny little animal. The moral of the story is NEVER forget your great worth! We are all sons and daughters of God with amazing power and capabilities. We must not let something small and insignificant keep us from the wondrous blessings our Heavenly Father has in store for us. As we trust in God and lean on our Savior, we will be strengthened, we will realize our infinite potential and we will be able to confidently return again to his presence.

Week of Gratitude

This Thanksgiving week was another AMAZING week!!! So, this week has totally cooled down and as of this moment, it is snowing!! But as the weather cools, the work continues to burn forward!! Also, speaking of burning, my crazy companion Sister Morrin ate TWO Habenero peppers this week. haha! We  had five awesome Thanksgiving dinners,  of which we were even able to help cook some of it:) We wore our festive Thanksgiving sweaters (found at our local Thrift Store) in honor of this beautiful holiday. It was wonderful to be in the homes of so many people, to hear of the things that they were grateful for, and feel the joy and love they all shared! To summarize this week of gratitude, I will share the top three things I am most grateful for this week...First, the knowledge that I have a loving Heavenly Father who is ever mindful of me. Second, the wonderful simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as explained in the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible. And lastly, the privilege that I have to share this message of hope and love for 18 months!! There is a new Christmas video which came out only yesterday, sharing the wonderful message of why we celebrate Christmas. I would invite each of you not only to watch it yourselves, but to share it, to help others feel of the wonderful spirit of Christmas:D Enjoy!:http://Christmas.mormon.org

Hope in this Crazy World

Another WONDERFUL week of inspiration. This week, we had little snow flurries and everyone says to be expecting it to snow on Thanksgiving, but we will see. We had the privilege of having Elder Martino of the Seventy come and speak with us this week as well:) His main points of focus was attitude, charity, and how to work more effectively with members. There was sooo much good stuff!!! He said that having a positive attitude grows from understanding our purpose, not just as missionaries but as people. That we are here on this earth to learn and to grow and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ gives us the tools necessary to succeed. Also that charity, or the pure love of Christ, needs to flow from us, and that as it does, we will be able to fearlessly do all things to help others to receive guidance from our Savior. Then lastly, he spoke on the importance of members. Of our need to work through them, to strengthen them so that they will have the confidence to share the gospel in any situation. In Alma 5:26, it says "And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?" As followers of Christ, we each have felt of his grace and mercy, we have been strengthened and uplifted, loved and encouraged. I invite you to share a faith building experience with someone this week. Show them that there is hope in this crazy world and that it comes from our Savior Jesus Christ.

I Know Why I am Here and Where I am Going

Our  week of service:D Everyday this week, Sister Morrin and I looked for opportunities to serve. Whether it was being outside doing yard work, making a family dinner or even just writing a note to someone, it brought us soooo much happiness! It is so true, as King Benjamin says in Mosiah, 'Serving others serves God." Another theme of this week, was joy. Quite a few times, someone has commented on my youthful enthusiasm and excitement, and frequently,  I am asked why or how can I be so happy, especially in a world of so much bad. My answer to them is that I know why I am here and where I am going, and most importantly, I know that I have a loving Father in Heaven who is ever mindful of me. He loves me, and everyone, so much that he sent a Savior to redeem us from our sins, so, that we all have a way back to him again. So that, no matter what this world throws at us, through Christ, we can overcome! In the beginning of the Book of Mormon, Lehi has  a vision of the tree of life. From that vision, we realize that though this world is full of darkness and deceit, people who mock and scorn righteous living and many things that cause us to lose our way. However, we are provided with tools to see us through it all. The word of God is one such tool, and most important of all, the Atonement of Jesus Christ. As we continually do the small and simple acts of faith; prayer, scripture study, and going to church, we will be able to access the Atonement and always emulate joy! For we will understand our purpose here and know that we are being prepared for greatness!!
