Personal Understanding of the Atonement

I had the opportunity to speak in Sacrament meeting this week, and my assignment of speaking on the importance of the Sacrament MADE my week!! Never before have a spent an entire week preparing for a talk. Usually, I finally get to it around 11 pm Saturday night, but not this time! I set aside time during my studies to focus solely on studying for my talk, and the results, if only for me personally, was Magnificent!!!!! I began in 1 Nephi 8 studying about Lehi's vision and the tree of life. The fruit of the tree of life is the love of God, or our Savior Jesus Christ, and in verses 10-12 we read on how it feels to partake of the fruit, or in other words experience Christ's Atonement in our lives. I then flipped over to Matthew 11: 28-30 where it testifies of our Saviors love for us and His desire to help and strengthen us, how we are bound to Him through the covenants we renew as we partake of the sacrament. I spoke and studied much more on Christ's Atonement, but over all, I felt so much love as I prepared and then gave this talk. In Preach My Gospel, it says "As one's understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ grows, your desire to share the gospel will increase." And that is a FACT! Because of the hope I have felt, the strength I have received, and the eternal perspective I have gained through understanding the Atonement, I am a missionary. Not only now, but forever. All need to know of the relief that comes only through Jesus Christ and feel of God's love as we all have the opportunity to weekly partake of the Sacrament. I invite you all to ponder on the impact the Savior has had on you personally, and to share it!!! Invite someone to church where they can experience first hand the power of the Atonement.

Self - Reflection

Another wonderful week here in Kearney Nebraska, a week full of reflection and Great news!!!This week, we had our interviews with our mission President, in preparation, we were to study and figure out something we wanted to work on to become more consecrated missionaries. As I was studying, a thought crossed my mind. What if I was preparing to have an interview with the Savior, instead of my mission President, how would this change my outlook? Needless to say my interview was with President and not the Savior, but that thought stuck with me. During my studies, I was reading Alma 5, which is a perfect self evaluation to gauge your relationship with Christ. In verse 19 it asks, "Can ye look up having the image of God engraven upon your countenances?" To me this underlines the importance of living like Christ, so much so that people can recognize the difference in our countenances. This world is crazy and it gets worse by the day, however I find comfort and guidance in Heleman 5:12 which states, "Remember...that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation...which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." I believe that with my whole heart, the only peace and solace to be found in this world is through Christ our Savior. I invite each of you to take the "self evaluation" in Alma 5 and to ponder on how you can better emulate the Savior and His teachings.

Week as Sister Training Leader

These weeks here in Keaney are literally Zooming by!! We had exchanges this week which means for 24 hours I get a new companion and kind of have mini training on how to improve missionary work. We also get to train other missionaries in our monthly missionary meeting. I have to admit I was a bit nervous and felt pretty inadequate training a room full of 28 missionaries. But what surprised me the most was that as I prepared and studied for this training, soooo much inspiration came to me that not only helped me but provided me with an opportunity to help others. Heavenly Father is so very mindful of each of his children and it was wonderful to be used a an instrument in his hands to help to uplift, encourage, and inspire other missionaries.
Here are some inspirations I received this week...Enjoy!:
"Gratitude is the BEST remedy for discouragement and sadness!"
The more we act in Faith, our testimonies strengthen and it becomes easier to do difficult things
and finally...
Asking myself "What does Heavenly Father want for me to learn from this and why is this important now?"
Do your very best, and then choose to be happy about your circumstances, whatever they may be!!:D

The Book of Mormon

So I have been out on my mission for 9 wonderful months now, and the miracles and changes I have seen in myself and others are just Magnificent! This week, as I have been focusing more on the Book of Mormon, I have felt of God's love so much! We had a missionary meeting this week, in which we were asked if we could imagine our lives without the Book of Mormon. As I sat pondering and contemplating on that question, I realize just how much the Book of Mormon has helped to strengthen and solidify my testimony. I came up with four main points that the Book of Mormon has helped me to form my testimony on. First, a FAITH (2 Nephi 33:10) in Jesus Christ. Second, it has given me HOPE(Alma 58:10-11), as it lays out what and how we should do things, it teaches us to have CHARITY(Moroni 7:45-47). And lastly, the importance of OBEDIENCE( 1 Nephi 3:7). All of the BOLD  words are attributes of Christ, which means, over all, that the Book of Mormon teaches us how to be like Christ, so like it says in Alma 34:32, we will be prepared to meet God. I am so very grateful for the Book of Mormon and the guidance and strength it provides to me every time I read it!!
